I started a children's science museum in Kailua-Kona to inspire curiosity, creativity, and innovation by introducing keiki to science during their formative years.

Since 1989 I have been active in Emergency Services, Disaster Response, and the education of the next generation of youth through Military Professionalism. From March 2008 - March 2011 I was commander of the Palo Alto Composite Squadron. I have won the state and Pacific Region, Ground Team Member of the year, leadership award, in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2009. I am currently serving Hawaii Wing as the Director of ES training. I am a rated Incident Commander level 2.I am a licensed pilot qualified to fly single engine aircraft.

As ShotSpotter expanded from 5 to 50 law enforcement, State Department, Department of Justice, FBI and military customers, I identified the need for a dedicated Customer Service department. I designed, built, and ran the ShotSpotter Operations Center which includes customer service, technical support, 24x7data and trend analysis, forensic acoustic analysis, and expert witness testimony on death penalty homicide cases. This department was recognized as the customer's favorite thing about ShotSpotter in a 2010 survey. I multi-task well while maintaining detailed documentation and records. I was personally responsible for the end-to-end installation of the system in Oakland, California working directly with then Mayor Jerry Brown and his administration. I have testified as a Forensic Acoustics Expert Witness in 4 homicide cases. In support of Sales and Marketing efforts, I provided system demonstrations, and am an experienced corporate spokesperson; my portfolio includes the TV series 'Extreme Forensics', shooting a pilot for a reality show similar to COPS, Network TV News Interviews (ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS), International TV, magazines and other print (WIRED, Wall Street Journal). I worked with both Clearlake Fire and Lakeport Fire Departments doing 911 response and critical care inter-facility transportation.

During relief efforts for the victims of hurricane IVAN, I was responsible for and directly organized, dispatched, and supervised over 150 FEMA and Army Corps of Engineers employees and volunteers. The database my dream team built (spontaneously) revolutionized the FEMA process of tracking and reporting on temporary housing, public health concerns, and medical and emotional needs of the victims and their families. Utilizing technology, my paramedic training, plus business acumen, with the meagerest of resources, this was a challenge met and mastered. My supervisors and co-workers repeatedly commended my ability to work in this extreme environment and to be not only a manager and supervisor but to encourage the team spirit and be a leader visionary and a teacher.

As Unit Production Manager on the feature length digital film Purgatory House I worked closely with Director Cindy Baer through all phases of pre-production (including hiring, casting, scouting and more) and I was responsible for arranging all the logistics during shooting including donations and negotiating credits.

As project manager for Disney.com, ABC.com, and Go.com including 'Who wants to be a millionaire', BLAST, Movies.com and more, I coordinated engineers and artists, developed hardware and software system solutions, and maintained schedules and deadlines. I have direct experience with website design, content implementation, networking, server management, programming, and SQL. I am well known for meeting tight deadlines, within budgetary constraints.

This small startup company was founded to explore the uses of wearable computers linked to the internet. I worked with the founders to develop and produce the Brave New Unwired World string of runway fashion shows. I invented the head's up display that was used, based on my work on head mounted displays at the Media Lab.

In 1998 I built an e-book using capacitance sense technology (FISH sensors) and published a paper at CHI. I was awarded the prestigious Technology innovator of the year award for my e-book.
