Studio 804 is a Design-Build Studio at the University of Kansas in which 18 students were accepted for their 5th year of the Master of Architecture program. During the 2018-2019 academic year, students of the program designed and built the program's 12th LEED Platinum house in East Lawrence, Kansas. The homes focus on sustainability, and cost-efficiency while addressing the affordable housing shortage in East Lawrence.Roles Include: - Led charge in structural framework design and assembly for 2 residential homes - Involvement with construction document, and shop drawing development - Communicated with donors and handled over $10,000 worth of donated product - Prepared presentations to inform other students of design decisions, product choices, and installation requirements - On site laborer assisting in the construction of (but not limited to), foundation work, framing assembly, weatherproofing, electrical wiring, flooring install, finishes, etc.
