While serving as a Senior Pastor at Monument Bible Church in Nebraska I discovered that I was committing "Pastoral Malpractice" - on a small scale at least. What I mean by that is that God brought me to a place of brokenness realizing how little I was doing to equip people to be fully devoted followers of Jesus in the place where: 1) most spend 60%+ of their waking hours, 2) people face some of the most challenging times and dilemmas of their lives/leadership, and 3) where they have the most connections with those who are far from God = THE MARKETPLACE, and I just HAD to do something about it!I was greatly influenced by various authors such as Doug Spada, CEO of WorkLife and by Jim Dismore, a previous Wal-Mart Executive who expanded Wal-Mart from 3 stores to over a thousand throughout the U.S. and in China, who was broken by God over how little he integrated his faith in his daily business, which ultimately led him to leave Wal-Mart to run businesses as a ministry for the Glory of God. Jim mentored me while I was still pastoring. I started several marketplace outreaches and trainings. We did some speaking/training together. Four years later he invited me to take over Kingdom Way, which is now impacting thousands of marketplace leaders and pastors.

Being a part of the His Way at Work Coaching team has afforded me the incredible honor of coming along side CEO's and Executive Teams to develop care strategies to meet the tangible physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of their employees, employees' families, and their community. The companies who have made this a high value / goal in their organization have seen dramatic results in employee onboarding, engagement, and retention as well as productivity, profitability, and joy in being a part of such purposeful work and community impact.

During my tenure here I had the privilege and joy of serving 100's of amazing people both at MBC and in the broader community. This period was marked by starting a Pastor's Fellowship of 30 churches, a non-profit organization called Love Inc., several international missions/training trips and launching the Global Leadership Summit that impacted hundreds of business leaders and Pastors regionally. But perhaps most notable to me was how many lives in my church were dramatically changed for God's glory, and how dramatically I was changed and impacted by them. Plus, this is when God led us to adopt Isabella, our daughter from Guatemala! And I can't begin to express the miracle of how all that transpired, through the support and prayers of many at MBC.

This 5 year period was one of the most exhilarating leadership experiences of my life! Why? It was the first time I really experienced how fun work/ministry could be in a culture of incredible team work, where each person is vulnerable, functioning within their gift-zones, and working together for high octane results. Working with two other Pastors I helped to build a dynamic music, marriage, small group, and counseling ministry that led to multiple services and seeing Mill Creek move into its first facility on a 20 acre lot with a vision to expand from there.It was also here I first realized my own need for community and that I couldn't exist in isolation. Having lost 3 kids to pregnancy complications, and having exhausted all other resources ILona and I received great care and compassion which helped us to pursue adopting kids instead. It was here we adopted our twin boys at birth, Seth and Joel!

As an Associate Pastor helping to start Christ Community Church just a mile west of Kansas University, I primarily focused on building teams and organizational structures that helped the children's, youth, music, college, and outreach ministries to thrive with rapid growth.

I started with A.D. Banker organizing pre-licensing, series 6 & 7, and CE classes in 6 different states, hiring/firing, overseeing 160 different instructors. By God's grace, in a short time I was elevated to the highest position I could go in a company comprised of 70+ employees, as the Compliance Manager. In this role I met with Department of Insurance Heads in the 16 states we did business in to devise ways and pass legislation to make it easier for us to conduct business in those states, while also ensuring we were in compliance as we conducted our business as well as assimilated other businesses functioning in similar capacities.

This was an incredible experience serving as the one of the main paralegals for civil case involving 31 plaintiffs we were defending. It entailed preparing for depositions of all 31 plaintiffs, expert witnesses, thousands of exhibits and all the preparations needed to go to trial over a 2 year period.

Having graduated from Bible College/Seminary, and being newly married, my wife and I had the privilege of creating some amazing children's, youth, college ministry outreaches as the first Youth Pastor of Grace Bible Church.

I was so blessed to serve under Pastor Glover and the amazing folks at Faith Baptist. This was also a part of my official pastoral internship while finishing up my studies at Calvary Seminary. Couldn't have asked for better training ground!

Bannister Mall, at least at that time, was becoming a less safe place for people/families to shop with gang influence etc. on the rise. It was here I really started valuing the incredible work our country's police officers do day in and day out, as I served side by side with some of Kansas City's finest law enforcement officials!

I learned even more the value of managing money well here, and I got to see first hand a bank president, who was a Christian, live out his faith in daily action.
