I created KidsConnect Pediatric Therapy to promote the fundamental step that the society needs to take into better understanding and promoting neurodivergent minds and also because I wanted to support my pediatric clients to learn and thrive within and beyond the clinic controlled environment. I wanted them to be successful and thrive in school, on the playground, and when they’re around friends and family.KidsConnect provides individual and/or group hour-long occupational therapy and speech treatment to children 0 to 21 years of age.Therapy is focused on feeding and sensory difficulties, attention deficits, gross and fine motor problems, improving eye-hand coordination and basic life skills (bathing, getting dressed, brushing teeth, etc.), and also learning positive behaviors, social skills, and speech related concerns.Services can be provided once or twice per week on a continuous basis. On the same time, a more flexible schedule can be developed to facilitate consultative and coaching sessions, educating the parent/caregiver and/or the teacher on sensory strategies, and adaptive techniques. Educational materials are also offered to better support the child within their natural environment. KidsConnect clinicians follow a child directed approach or the DIR Model. When the child's intrinsic motivation is awakened, the child will be more engaged, happier, and ready to lean. Literature/research mentions that a child learns way much faster when they’re engaged through functional and motivational play. Therapy services are specifically targeted to facilitate function and engagement so the child can live a meaningful and happier life!

Screen potential patients, evaluate and develop treatment strategies for pediatric conditions from mild to severe (Body dysregulation, Sensory Processing Disorder, Feeding difficulties, ADH, Anxiety Disorder, Sensory-Motor disorder, Cerebral palsy, ASD etc.)Participate in multidisciplinary meeting to discuss cases/conditions and facilitate better treatment outcomes.Provide weekly consultation to parents/caregivers/teachers to promote patient care transparency.Participate in work related training to facilitate professional development.Supervise OT/OTA students and OTA.Provide Telehealth services under special circumstances (i.e., pandemic).

Evaluate patient conditions and needs.Develop a treatment plan and provide client centered treatment to patients as young as 3 mo old, with sensory processing disorders, to maximize their full potential in order to perform daily activities.Incorporate play into their interventions to help motivate children and decrease anxiety.Administer standardized and nonstandardized assessments such as Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency (BOT), Peabody Developmental Motor Scales (PDMS), Developmental Test of Visual Perception (DTVP-3), observational assessment of gross motor and fine motor skills.Educate family on how to accommodate patients needs within the home environment.Recommend special equipment such as wheelchairs or hearing aids and instruct patient/family how to use equipment.Assess and record patients’ activities and progress for patient evaluations, for billing, and for reporting to physicians, schools, and other healthcare providersDemonstration of strong interpersonal aptitude with patients to create a relaxed and comfortable milieu for successful therapy.

Active member of a hospital subacute skilled interdisciplinary teamto provide evidence-based and client-centered treatment to full caseload of clients with strokes,cardiac, orthopedic, or transplant surgery, patients with chronic or acute pulmonary conditions,brain injury, individuals with acute or chronic wounds, and more.In-service presentation on the benefits of LSVT-Big intervention on patients with Parkinson's.

Worked as an active team member with a fellow student over the course of 12 weeks, toprovide care to two patients: a child diagnosed with Hypotonicity and ASD and an adultdiagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.Delivered formal (and informal) assessments including Test of Handwriting Skills, ManualMuscle Testing, Grip assessment, Modified Fatigue Impact Scale, Depression instrument,TUG, and Modified Ashworth in conjunction with skilled observation to identify areas ofphysiological and occupational dysfunction.Employed PROM, AAROM, AROM, ADL, energy conservation, adaptive equipment, balance,fine motor, gross motor, and bilateral motor coordination, along with compensatoryapproaches to enhance occupational performance.Treatments were focused on client-centered activities to focus on goal attainment for self-cares, leisure, fatigue management, writing skills, feeding, and attention span.

Worked under supervision for 8 weeks (64 hour), to perform:● Bedside evaluations and provide education in self-care activities (i. e., feeding, toileting, dressing) with adaptive or durable medical equipment and/or compensatory techniques as needed.● Use neuromuscular re-education, trunk stabilization, and balance activities to improve clients’ ability to move in and out of bed and maintain an upright posture necessary to perform self-care and home management activities.● Determine need for splints and adaptive devices to preserve joint integrity and avoid skin ulcers due to prolonged pressure.● Educate family members and caregivers to assist with range-of-motion exercises, safe transfers and mobility, and skin checks.● Contribute to safe discharge planning, including recommendations for transitioning to the next level of care.The above treatments administered to a clinical caseload with complex medical comorbidities such as stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, various neurological disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, amputation, joint replacement, fractures, multiple trauma, cardiac conditions, and pulmonary conditions.

Worked under supervision and observed for 4 weeks (32 hours):● Range of motion exercises, motor planning coordination and obstacle courses forpediatric population manifesting Autism related disorders, Sensory-motor disorders,Upper extremity injuries, ADD/ADHD Developmental disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, andDelays in fine motor and visual motor skills directly affecting academic performance.● Evaluations, identifying goals, developing treatment plans, and administeringassessments.
