CurrentAs the Director of Communications at the United Domestic Workers of America (UDW), I lead the strategic communication efforts to empower and advocate for home care and family child care providers across California. My role is rooted in the mission of enhancing the visibility and impact of UDW, advancing the rights and working conditions of our members, and fostering a strong, cohesive union.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Communication: I develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with UDW's goals and initiatives, ensuring our message is clear, consistent, and impactful.Media Relations: I manage relationships with local, state, and national media outlets, serving as the liaison with our spokespeople for UDW. I prepare and distribute press releases, organize press conferences, and deliver key messages to the public.Digital Presence: I oversee UDW’s digital platforms, including our website and social media channels. I create engaging content that enhances our online visibility and fosters member engagement.Internal Communications: I ensure clear and consistent communication with UDW members and staff through newsletters, memos, and other materials, promoting transparency and inclusion.Brand Management: I uphold and enhance UDW’s brand identity, ensuring all communication materials align with our brand guidelines and messaging.Advocacy and Campaigns: I collaborate with our advocacy team to support policy initiatives and campaigns, developing compelling narratives to advance our legislative and organizing goals.Leadership: I lead and mentor the communications team, fostering professional development and managing our communication resources effectively.Key Achievements:Increased media coverage and public awareness of UDW’s initiatives.Enhanced member engagement through strategic digital communication.Executed high-impact campaigns supporting key legislative victories for our members.
