CurrentThe Speaking While Female Speech Bank celebrates women speakers from across time and around the world. Women have been nearly absent from the historical record of public speaking. What they said was seldom written down or remembered. This project sets the record straight by putting the spotlight on women who have spoken out in public, sharing their expertise, knowledge, and worldview.Academics, teachers, and speakers are using the Speaking While Female Speech Bank as part of their content, lesson plans and curriculums, filling in the gaps where traditional sources have overlooked women's contributions. The C-SPAN Classroom, C-SPAN's education arm, includes my interview about the Speaking While Female Speech Bank in their video library and lesson plans, teaching students how to think critically and use original sources.Organizations that support women and girls value the Speaking While Female Speech Bank because they know it's not just about the past — it's a source of inspiration for the present, and powerful role models for the future. Just imagine a world in which all women and girls have the confidence and the skills to use their voices. The betterment of our world depends on it. The strength of our communities, our environment, and our organizations, depends on it. No democracy, no institution, no company can flourish and prosper if half the populace does not fully participate.
