I am a former Elementary School Teacher, Litigation Partner and Associate General Counsel who has progressed to EVP and General Counsel of Boys Town while staying true to what I believe in most: the value of service and expanding opportunity for all. With 20 years of both nonprofit and for-profit legal experience, I contribute exceptional risk management, compliance guidance and governance expertise to organizations.Founded over 100 years ago in Nebraska by Father Edward Flanagan, Boys Town has been a national leader in the care and treatment of children. As one of the largest nonprofit, nonsectarian social services and health care organizations in the country, Boys Town provides compassionate, research-proven treatment for behavioral, emotional and physical problems. The organization currently serves tens of thousands of patients, children and families at nine sites across the country. My career started as a sixth-grade teacher with the Omaha Public Schools- a position that ignited my passion for inspiring young people to be their best selves. From there, I attended Creighton Law School and became a Federal Judicial Law Clerk supporting Hon. Joseph Bataillon and Hon. Thomas Shanahan in US District Court for the District of Nebraska. My journey includes experience as a Litigation Partner in private practice as well as Associate General Counsel with Mutual of Omaha. Mission-driven work that impacts everyday people drives me daily. That’s why the art of combining the law, advocacy and my commitment to children is so powerful. I believe in the value of service to affect change in the lives of those who are disenfranchised and that ALL children should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential. My career has been built by setting a vision, implementing strategy and motivating diverse individuals to do meaningful, long-lasting work. I bring a spirit of community and servant leadership to the numerous community empowerment, youth and education-focused Boards on which I serve and I bring those same qualities to my role as General Counsel of Boys Town.
