As the Chief Innovation officer and member of Mayor Wild’s Executive Staff I have had the opportunity to positively and measurably transform internal business processes, delivery of critical life safety services, and quality of life operations with innovative, mobile, and leading edge technology integration in Westland. Some of these solutions now stand as beacons of good design and function, duplicated by my peers and used as reference models by our vendor partners. In my tenure, I have worked to implement technical solutions that leverages and empowers our greatest assets, our employees by giving them solutions that technically elegant, easy to use, and work just as hard as our employees work. Business processes that once took nearly a year to complete now takes just weeks using a cloud solution and a small fleet of 4G connected tablets. With solutions that generate reliable and real-time data, I have been able to provide both the administration as well as our residents access to dashboards that allow for data-driven executive decision making and unique transparency for our residents. I successfully led the technical construction efforts of both the new Westland City Hall and new main fire station including the seamless relocation of all the staff and infrastructure with zero lost work time. When the City was attacked by a ransomware threat, the likes that crippled major corporations and government agencies for days the city was able to repel the attach with no ransom paid, no data lost, and only a handful of hours of technical impact for a small employee group. I am credited for having a unique policy of employee engagement that enables employees to report, without fear of discipline, when they suspect they may have become victims of a cyber-threat. This culture of trust and communication, when combined with innovative security technology allowed my team to detect and aggressively neutralize the threat.

The global nature of the team provided unique opportunities to refine my leadership skills to embrace and leverage the team’s diversity while overcoming language, cultural, and time zone differences.

My roles naturally varied during this chapter of my career from leading technical support operations for a major automotive manufacturer to providing project management and implementation leadership for a major medical center in Detroit.
