Lead software engineer and founding partner of engineering services company that develops systems ranging from distributed desktop applications to remote deployed embedded systems for harsh environments. Project work to date has included:• Developed system software for the Juvenile Salmon Acoustic Tracking System (JSATS) Shorestation, which provides the operator near real-time (cloud) access to salmon-tracking data without the need to recover the remotely deployed hardware. • Developed system control software for a battery-powered acoustic underwater data (hydrophone) logging system, allowing the system to be deployed 25% longer than previous systems. • Developed system control and interface software for a Navy prototype that measures electric, acoustic, and magnetic fields surrounding ships. The system is used to characterize and thereby aid in reduction of mine susceptibility. • Support Torpedo MK46 co-production program between the U.S. and Japanese Navies. Brought in as a consultant during (stalled) integration of Torpedo Conditioning Station at Japanese Facility. Completed integration, enabling customer to meet critical production schedule. Continue to serve as primary software consultant during annual maintenance visits for all MK46 torpedo production test systems at the facility. Work with executives to ensure client satisfaction.• Developed ship tracking system for the Panama Canal including small ship detection and tracking. The Linux-based distributed system integrated radar, satellite and telemetry data to determine which information to send, and alarms to raise on the user interface. Led development and onsite deployment and testing.• Developed embedded software for prototype solar-powered wildlife tracking tag controlled by PIC16F1825 microcontroller.

Worked with a common core group of team members through numerous mergers and acquisitions - Honeywell, Alliant Techsystems, Raytheon. Worked on marine and defense-related systems projects.Project work included:• Designed and developed control/sequencing software for a PC-based system to automate testing of the Torpedo MK46 LHT Sonar Array and Nose Assembly (ANA). The system interfaced to an existing Navy test set to control test sequencing, and collected the acoustic data for MATLAB Analysis.• Led a team of three software engineers to develop control console software for a sub-sea cable burial system. The LabWindows/CVI based system allows the operator to control vehicle attitude, cameras, burial depth while logging and displaying system health and status.

• Worked as part of a team in the Navy’s SLQ-48 Mine Neutralization System (MNS) CPU Upgrade. Responsible for the development of real-time embedded software for one of four processors, as well as all common utilities. • Developed Automated Data Logging System (ADLS), a LabWindows/CVI based application that provides control/logging for a data acquisition lab, giving the operator control of racks of equipment including radio GPS, signal conditioners, recorders, amplifiers and receivers using GPIB, RS232, UDP and TCP/IP communication.

• While on field assignment with the US Navy, was part of a small team software engineers that developed Torpedo MK54 Data Reduction and Analysis System – a suite of software tools to aid in the analysis of sea-run trials. The Fortran based solution leveraged database, sonar and acoustic signal processing, digital recording, and user interface technologies.
