Miranda Abbott is the creator of Dance Equations and author of Beyond Movement, a math resource for educators. www.danceequations.comMiranda Abbott is a professional dancer and choreographer as well as an educator and workshop leader, specializing in teaching curriculum through dance, art and literature. She has provided dance equation workshops to hundreds of teachers and has taught thousands of children in Canada and Costa Rica.Dance Equations ©, is a company that develops math dance programs with cross-curricular linkages for educators. Beyond Movement is the first of many educational resources developed and illustrated by Miranda to teach educators a new way of helping students understand complex mathematical concepts.As the founder and chief artistic influence behind Event Horizon Dance, Miranda focuses on math, science, philosophy and political themes. Her dance company has been featured on several radio and television programs and her dancers have performed at many musical theatre productions and festivals.Miranda is currently working with RE/MAX Executive Realty Escazu in Costa Rica. Miranda assists her husband Joshua Wittman and completes all listings, graphic designs and databases. Miranda and Joshua are a strong RE/MAX team who specialize in luxery hotels.

Event Horizon Dance is an explosive dance company, composed of vibrant independent dancers. We bring together modern dance and break dance, mixing a wide variety of rhythmic movements and styles. Our work is an exciting addition to festivals, outdoor events, theatre productions and to school show cases. We provide a combination of workshops and seminars with many of our performances. We have a school presentation called Flight an Other Such Adventures and a new production called Dust... The director, Miranda Abbott, is an accomplished performer who incorporates philosophy, theatre and mathematics into her work. Her company name is inspired by her love of science; she relates her choreographic goals to Einstein’s theory of gravity and black holes. She is known for her energetic choreography and her work within schools and community groups. Through dance, Miranda hopes to open the hearts of her audiences and inspire many through her particularly funky style.
