Equipment tested included furnaces, water heaters, hydronic heaters, re-circulation pumps, burner controllers, pump controllers, griddles, stoves, ovens, fryers, broilers, and more across all market segments (residential / commercial / industrial).- Supported research & development efforts on algal based CO2 capture technology at Scripps Institute of Oceanography.- Laboratory testing and technical evaluation of prototype small scale steam methane reforming reactor.- Evaluated the combustion characteristics, flame stability and safety due to variations in wobbe number and impurities of natural gas combustion. - Conducted interchangeability studies of hydrogen enriched gas and renewable natural gas with pipeline gas using residential, commercial and industrial gas equipment. Instrumentation used included gas chromatography, various emissions analyzers (flame ionization, infrared, thermal conductivity, etc) and optical gas imaging cameras.- Designed, implemented and troubleshot local and remote data acquisition/control and data analysis systems using various platforms, such as NI LabVIEW.Materials Engineer for the Materials & Equipment team (cross training, approx 1 day a week for 6 months)-Performed failure analysis on polyethylene plastic pipe by conducting tests including lower inner wall density inspection, oxidative induction time testing, IR spectroscopy testing, etc. Instrumentation used included microtome, microscope, differential scanning calorimeter and FTIR.-Evaluated material test reports on steel pipe samples. Calculated yield stress and strain. Evaluated chemical composition and provided welding procedure modification recommendations when needed. Show less
