Engaged by the Ministry of Defence to set up the newly formed Single Source Regulations Office, I designed and set up all of the IT systems needed to run this new spending regulator. Having created a cloud-native design for the organisation which also met the requirements of the MOD Assessors, I engaged third parties through the G-Cloud procurement framework to build and support the service, before handing over to a permanent Head of IT to run the operations.

Reporting directly to the Global CTO, I led a number of strategic change initiatives during a turbulent time for EMI. The varied role allowed me to manage practical implementation projects as well as define technology strategy in functions across this £2.5bn business. I regularly dealt with the most senior stakeholders, as well as those on the ‘shop floor’. Achievements at EMI include:- Concept development, tendering and contract negotiations for the implementation of a new online music experience: emi.com. The site, which launched in November ’08, is a key part of the new strategic direction for EMI.- Implemented new non-stock purchasing process and system, integrated with Navision, for Nordic Shared Service Centre: Created a step-change in the control and visibility of spending.- New strategy and business case for European Finance Shared Services, including organisation, process and technology change to consolidate back-office process and enable through SAP.- Led strategic studies into royalty processing, asset management and project accounting, defining future development for systems, processes and data structures.

In the newly created role of European Operations Manager, I was responsible for European supply chain including purchasing, logistics, warehousing and management of third parties for this $100m European business. I also retained overall responsibility for IT strategy and implementation, with an IT Manager as a direct report.
