I was working as a project worker for the Chinese Parents Special Support Network before, which is a non-profit organisation. The client cohort is mainly Chinese migrants whose children have some special needs, including autism, intellectual disability or other kinds of disability. The scope of my previous work was to help run a community project called Safety Card Project, a government-funded project to help users with special needs to travel safely in communities. I mainly took charge in project planning, budgeting, project promotion, event facilitation, networking, reporting and some administrative tasks. 1. Supporting the delivery of the project, including preparing promotion materials and coordinating recruitment and registration for programs and events2. Outreaching and promoting the project in the community, for example in the schools, community interest groups, community organisations and city of councils3. Organising and facilitating seminars, workshops, special activities and peer groups for families whose children have special needs4. Providing supervision and support to volunteers5. Networking and arranging meetings with partner organisations and service providers6. Conducting initial assessments on clients and providing referrals as well as information to them whenever necessary7. Providing support for website and social media management8. Conducting various administrative tasks, including report, media release and grant application writing, database management and website management
