Software Engineer
As a Software Engineer at DTCC, I was involved in full lifecycle software development, from initial requirement gathering to deployment. Beyond my core responsibilities, I was selected with six others in my department to serve as a Code Quality Advocate, enabling me to enhance my squad’s codebase and foster a culture of quality-first development. In this additional capacity, my key contributions included:Championing Code Quality: Advocated actively for code quality improvements, implementing measures like regular code reviews, and introducing new tools and best practices.Advancing Testing Practices: Boosted our software's reliability and performance by establishing rigorous testing standards, methodologies, and automating quality gates with unit tests. A notable accomplishment was increasing the incremental code coverage of two of our critical applications, Trade Summary and Post Trade Monitoring, from 0% to over 80%, significantly enhancing their reliability and maintainability.Promoting DevOps Best Practices: Played an essential role in streamlining our development processes and CI/CD pipeline, thereby improving code quality and speeding up release cycles.Bridging Product and Engineering: Acted as a link between engineering and stakeholders to ensure alignment with user needs and business objectives.Providing Mentorship: Mentored engineers on continuous integration and trunk-based development, unit testing frameworks, and test-driven development, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement within our team. This work was recognized with the peer-voted 'Care Bear Stare Award - Sharing is Caring', acknowledging my active contribution of new ideas and promotion of knowledge sharing.
