I hold a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Oklahoma. This degree has allowed me to pursue my goal of being a Licensed Professional Counselor. As a LPC-Candidate I facilitate space for individuals, families, and groups to process trauma and life issues in a safe way. I meet all clients with unconditional positive regard and welcome their experience in the treatment process. I prefer psychodynamic and person-centered approaches. I have experience using Internal Family Systems, Non-directive Child-centered play therapy, and Written Exposure Therapy models with clients. I also have several years of experience with substance abuse and mental health disorders as a behavioral health case manager II. I also have experience working with Native American populations from my time spent working on SAMHSA funded federal grants for substance abuse treatment and prevention in rural communities.

I coordinate on a federal grant (SYT-I) with several other team members. Our goal is to implement substance use disorder treatment plans, prevention activities, case management, community outreach, and therapeutic curriculum for our clinical counseling team. I do demographic research and pull data to create spreadsheets and graphs, and I also present for tribal meetings on our activities as well as manage my own activities and funds through my direct supervisor.

I provide life skills and case management services for our clients and for the surrounding areas through our school contracts and community outreach efforts. I help individuals who may be struggling and require help obtaining employment, housing, education, or even small tasks like creating a daily routine. My main goal is to connect clients with the resources they need so they can succeed in their recovery.

I have completed the intern phase of my degree program and I am working with The Kickapoo Tribe. We see a small case load of Native American clients through our federal grant. The grant helps fund an intensive outpatient program for individuals between the ages of 12 to 24 who are struggling with substance abuse, mental health issues, and cooccurring issues. Our program is one of a handful in the nation that was selected for funding. Most of our clientele are from the rural surrounding area.

I facilitated a safe environment for recovering teens in a mental health and substance use disorder inpatient recovery setting. I led groups with a focus on mental wellness and developing healthy coping skills. I did one on one therapeutic talk sessions, helping children deal with unresolved trauma in their life. I was able to implement my nonviolent communication skills to promote an environment of personal responsibility and further magnify the importance of finding healthy coping skills. The facility used the Sanctuary model of recovery and mental wellness. I would also work with incoming employees and train them on policies and procedures.
