Dane Demicell founded Vuspex in 2011. He developed the construction app solution based on his decades of experience in the industry. A self-taught entrepreneur, he sought a solution to repeated multiple job stoppages due to inspection delays. He was familiar with software and technology tools that he used to operate and grow his existing drywall business. With an innate ability to find the right people to make his vision happen, Dane has assembled a fine-tuned team consisting of industry veterans, the construction industry and municipal agencies to take the product to the next level. Dane first worked in construction with his father. After setting out on his own, he had a traditional career in the industry working his way up from apprentice to journeyman drywaller. He returned to his hometown of Santa Cruz in 2000. After earning his contractor’s license, he set out to build a business with a bucket of tools and a plan – visit every construction site in Santa Cruz County and get to know the general contractor. He built Consolidated Drywall into a company that has employed up to 70 people. Currently, the day-to-day operations at Consolidated are in the hands of the Project and Office Managers along with Dane’s brother and father. This brings him full circle from when his father brought him to jobsites as a boy. While Dane maintains oversight of his construction company, his fulltime priority is Vuspex.
