A dynamic and results orientated administrator and entrepreneur, Dane has 25 years’ experience in strategic/operations management and business development in both trading and manufacturing/processing concerns, the last 16 of which he was involved in developing sustainable forest based businesses. He possesses exceptional communication, negotiation, organization and management skills and is a balanced, versatile individual; capable of providing strategic/operational management, planning, monitoring and control support, crucial to the effective performance of modern institutions and businesses. He has grown up in his family’s 50 year old business which had interests in Garment Manufacturing and Exporting, Machinery Sales, Business Consulting and in 2001 started a Food importation and distribution company with his brother. He is an articulate professional well known in the Guyanese business and banking communities and is thoroughly familiar with the intricacies of conducting business and other operations in Guyana. His two year stint with the Iwokrama International Centre as Business Development / Management Consultant in 2002 led to his appointments as Operations & Finance Director (with responsibility for Business Development and Donor management) for the Centre for a period of three years. This job involves providing financial and administrative support to the Centre’s multifaceted Georgetown and Field operations and the development & management of the Centre’s sustainable forest based businesses of Timber, Tourism, Training and Merchandising. He finally was appointed Chief Executive Officer in November 2007, a position he currently holds. To complement his in-depth practical management experience he was, until 2005, a final year lecturer at the University of Guyana in a number of disciplines business disciplines including Strategic Management, Operations/Production Management and Project Management, amongst others. He relishes overcoming challenges in institutions operating in dynamic conditions such as Guyana and the Caribbean, is objective driven, and has a strong interest in supporting organizations which are involved in national development activities. He is also treasurer of the Diplomatic Corps of Guyana and a Trustee of the Guyana Bank For trade and Industry Mutual Funds.
