Co-founded Buffalo Food Products Inc. which managed one of the oldest and most popular supermarkets (Fogarty's Supermarket) in Central Georgetown. Iwokrama International Centre (www.iwokrama.org) – An International NGO which manages 370,000 ha of pristine rainforest in central Guyana.

Led the 8 man administrative and business development team to support the day to day management of the entire programme (with a budget of approximately USD1.2M - 2M per year) including the River Lodge located 340 km from Georgetown. This included:· Writing funding proposals to ODA donors such as the Commonwealth Secretariat, British High Commission, IADB, WB, EU, CIDA, WWF DfID and Moore Foundation amongst others.· Substantially improving and managing ODA donor relations, budgets and reporting to the various donors including EU, DFiD, ITTO and CIDA and the Commonwealth Secretariat and conservation grants such as Darwin, WWF, IUCN, UNDP, Audobon, CI amongst others.· Managing the Centre’s accounting function including the re-designing of the Chart of Accounts and accounting forms, budgets and management reports, implementing policies and procedures using the computerized ACCPAC accounting software for the efficient and real time production of management and donor reports· Was responsible for reducing costs at the Centre through the implementation of more efficient systems and a robust budgeting,

Co-founded Buffalo Food Products, an importer and wholesale distributor of food products in Guyana. The company has recorded sales in the low 9 figures and now imports products from several countries around the world. Major responsibilities included charting the strategic direction of the company and setting up the required supporting administrative and operations systems including, finance and accounting, marketing & distribution, purchasing, international product sourcing and human resource administration

Gobin’s Limited is a fifty year old family business which pioneered the production and exportation of garments. When Dane returned from University in 1989 he began to diversify the company into Agricultural Machinery Sales (the company is an authorized dealer for Massey Ferguson Tractors of the UK) and Financial and Management Consulting/ Project preparation. His responsibilities included to:· Overall management of the company including management of the company’s production facility comprising of 600 staff and 450 machines, 11 company-owned retail stores and dealer network in Guyana, and export markets.· Organized the overall administrative structure of this division of the company which included the importation, assembly and sales of products such as tractors, combines, trucks, engines, generators and other equipment.· Negotiated a complex dealer-contract with Massey Ferguson of the UK· Prepared several project proposals ranging in value from USD20,000 to USD500,000 and restructured several businesses operations through cost rationalization activities and discussions with the financial sector· Provided management and financial advice and support for entrepreneurs including the preparation of business and marketing plans
