I have been involved in the Third Sector for over 30 years in a wide range of roles. Currently, I am an Investing in Volunteers Lead Assessor (England) and Investing in Volunteers Assessor, a Trusted Charity Mark Assessor, and I have been the Director of my own company, Make it Happen since 2004, designing and delivering interactive, multi-media eLearning experiences for Third Sector organisations. Investing in Volunteers (IiV) is the UK-wide quality standard for good practice in volunteer management, overseen by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) in England. It is based on four areas of volunteer management: planning for volunteer involvement, recruiting volunteers, selecting and matching volunteers, and supporting and retaining volunteers. As an IiV Lead Assessor I support a team of IiV assessors and I am involved in quality assurance and the strategic development of IiV. Investing in volunteers is part of NCVO’s suite of quality standards. Trusted Charity Mark is a user-friendly quality assurance system designed to help Third Sector organisations run more effectively and efficiently. It sets out what organisations need to have in place to ensure sound governance practices, financial and risk management procedures, and a robust system for measuring outcomes. Trusted Charity Mark is part of NCVO’s suite of quality standards.
