New addition to my career! Happily retiring in June, 2024!My career thus far has put me in the position of needing to be fluent in over 20 programming languages due to project needs over time. Most of my time at my last job (31+ years with the company) was spent with COBOL (and a COBOL 4GL) on Unisys mainframes, T-SQL and VB.NET with some occasional VBA thrown in for good measure. My strengths lie in database analysis and design, data analysis and interpretation, and data conversion -- which also coincide with my interests. Frequently I have been tasked with converting data to accommodate migrations or upgrades and that sometimes entails working with something as old as DB-III or FoxPro, or more current such as SQL Server or Oracle extracts -- or anything in between, including the wide variety of flat file formats that are out in the world. One of my roles for the past 15 years was as lead programmer in charge of configuring Financial Crimes detection software for client banks. In addition I needed to track releases of the software and databases as well as troubleshooting issues that would arise as new clients implemented the software.I designed and implemented a SQL Server based system to monitor PCI compliance for files used for bank data conversions. This included detailed statistical and detail reporting using Excel as well as an automated system for removing files that would soon be our of compliance.Several projects I developed to help task automation and improve efficiency were based in Excel, Access or SQL Server using extensive database queries, VBA and T-SQL.
