I am a wife, mother, founder of NAMI Brown County, and 2020 Ohio News Media Hooper Award winner for my original column related to mental health. I am just a thoroughly midwestern woman living in the heartland of this country. "You've seen a side of mental health and wellness that few have seen-and you have the skills, passion, and ability to teach others what it's like. How are things going to change otherwise?” a friend said to me recently. I want to empower people with a mental illness to choose life daily, live a vibrant and productive life. I am the first mental health warrior pioneer baker blazing a trail for others. “The way [Danei Edelen] found NAMI was very positive,” Deanna Vietze, executive director of the Brown County Board of Mental Health & Addiction Services said. “She wanted to help others. She’s able to share her story and give others the hope it’s not a death sentence, that you can overcome and be a functioning member of society. It gives them a voice.
