My name is Dan Engebretson and I engineer solutions. As a senior structural engineer I have built a portfolio of commercial building projects that total in the millions of square feet and trillions of dollars in construction costs. Something that gives me great satisfaction is when out with my kids I can point to a building and say “I did that.” I have over 30 years of structural engineering experience, and over 40 years of proven project management, construction, finance and manufacturing experience. Not many can claim they cut their teeth in project management while working on NASA programs. Both of my grandfathers were nose-to-the-grindstone types who worked with their hands, and because of them I know which end of the hammer to use. I understand that at the end of the day somebody actually has to build it. Building solutions must be based on reality and budget, not something that just looks good on paper. A construction superintendent told me that he found our relationship to be collaborative and rewarding as we worked together to solve construction problems. I would rather get comments like this than win some award in a magazine. As an engineer I am a detail-oriented, fervent problem solver who crafts creative solutions--an innovative and strategic thinker who can see the big picture. I am a goal driven and self-motivated individual who possesses a skill set not typically found in an engineer: a strong technical background, actual business and management experience, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. An old-school work ethic and a good sense of humor do not hurt either.I am very passionate about process. The application of lean engineering principles to the design and construction process is critical to maximizing efficiencies and reducing costs. If you are interested in learning more about my experience and portfolio, or have an engineering challenge that requires a solution, please feel free to message me via LinkedIn.
