Amir's path is a mix of school work, martial arts training, and the exciting adventure of learning to fly. As a Computing Science PhD Candidate, Sessional Instructor, Research Assistant, and Big Data Analyst at Simon Fraser University (SFU), he dives into topics like Machine Learning, Data Science, Computational Biology, and Bioinformatics, always eager to learn more and help the scientific world.Martial arts is not just a personal hobby for Amir; as a Karate Instructor and practitioner, he enjoys learning from all of his teachers (Sensei) and classmates in the past and present, and teaching the important values of respect and discipline to his students, making sure they understand the heart of Karate. Amir sees martial arts as a way to learn life’s important lessons of hard work, respect, and never-ending learning.The sky is just the beginning for Amir, as he's on an exciting path to becoming a pilot. This new challenge shows his endless love for learning and discovering new things. Whether it's flying in the sky or solving complex bioinformatics problems, Amir is always curious and excited about both structured learning and free-spirited adventures.In school, he's not just a student but also a helpful teacher. His job as a Sessional Instructor and Teaching Assistant in different computing courses at SFU and the University of the Fraser Valley shows his desire to create a good learning place for his students, sharing knowledge and helping others in their school journey.Outside school and work, Amir loves learning new languages, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors. His days often involve hiking beautiful trails of BC, riding his motorcycle along scenic routes, embarking on road trips, and engaging in rock climbing. Moments of reflection are found while sitting at Rocky Point Park past midnight, absorbing the tranquil sea and mountain vistas. Each activity provides a balance to his academic and technical endeavours. This is complemented by planning his next flight lesson. His life reflects continuous learning, sharing knowledge, and embracing new experiences. Whether on the ground, clinging to a rock face, among students, riding or driving through the winding roads of British Columbia, or flying high in the sky, Amir’s path is all about enjoying the wide range of life’s learning and adventures.Above all, Amir is incredibly grateful for all the supportive and loving people in his life. Their presence has been a source of strength and inspiration, making every step of his journey richer and more meaningful. And for that, he is eternally thankful.
