I’m a retired Army Officer and former West Point Professor. I was fortunate to be one of the founding members of an innovative research center at West Point and have grown a business around it that turns complex data into actionable insights.I would describe myself as a data translator: I'm a bridge between data scientists and executives. I understand the technical aspects and have the ability to clearly convey the “so what?” to decision makers.Along the way, I was fortunate to spend considerable time on the African continent working on innovative applications of network analysis. This experience convinced me that with the right fusion of science and art, real-world policy problems can be addressed by embracing complexity. The establishment of the center and of my own company also unleashed an entrepreneurial spirit and I became passionate about innovation and leading change within organizations.I found through these experiences that I love switching on light bulbs with people – facilitating those ‘aha moments’ that change mindsets and open up new possibilities. My passion is all about helping people, teams and organizations figure out where they are, where they want to be, and then helping them get there...If you’re interested in chatting about my thoughts about big data (and smart data), economic development, as well as operational strategy and business processes, reach out to me at dan.evans@stormkinganalytics.comSpecialties: data translation, analysis, operations management, innovation strategy and investment, executive team and consensus building, tactical planning and delivery, employee engagement and change management.
