Leading a team of Marketing representatives and training new Reps to excel

Apologies to associates who learn of my career change on professional media instead of in person - I will be early retiring from Scotiabank on April 30th 2018. It has been a long and satisfying journey over 34 years and Scotiabank wasn't just an employer - It quite literally is in my DNA. I loved my work and am proud of my achievements. My short term plans are to enjoy the balance of 2018 with family & friends - Towards late 2018 early 2019 - I will be looking for opportunities that can utilize my 34 years as a Manager & Financial Planner - and also utilize skills & training I have in my inventory from my 25 years in the Fire Service (OH & S - Fire Inspector etc.). We will be living in Alberta and have no immediate plans to change this - It is an interesting feeling to know that my next professional challenge at this point knows no bounds. All options as far as types of rolls, and location, are on the table and I can't wait to discover how this next chapter takes shape. I am very thankful for the support I received from the Bank during this life event.

I thoroughly enjoyed my three years with Scotiabank in Alberta.

There were many influences that had me leave my home in Nova Scotia to explore opportunities in Alberta. I am very proud of my work & success in my 31 years in New Scotland. I have made meaningful friendships and professional relationships that are important to me there - and look forward to new ones here! What moving has done is to take me out of my comfort zone. While the tactile environment is so familiar as you would expect from a large successful organization. The reality is like all things done well - the Devil is in the Details. The nuances, of familiarizing myself with different industry, demographics, and priorities demands a newly calibrated routine... The change is fresh & energizing. I have the pleasure of working with great people here. I need to challenge myself daily to achieve the standards of excellence I once took for granted - to meet my team's and client's expectations - and as important - my own. If my first quarter is an indication - there is much to celebrate on this new journey - and also much road ahead.

Managed an active Small Business Portfolio, Also President of the Antigonish Chamber of Commerce. Very involved in the community, participating in Food Bank drives, local Fire Department, and leading a very active Chamber of 200 members.

Responsible for a large portfolio of retail loans and investments. This position was responsible for coaching and developing nine employees via two direct reports. The roles and responsibilities for each of my team members changed during this time period. Maintaining morale and sustaining focus on our corporate vision was a key accomplishment. Also during this time period, I invested considerable personal time and upgraded my knowledge and skills, obtaining my Diploma in Personal Financial Planning.
