Profile bio

About Riley Danford

I was born and lived around Toledo Ohio my whole life. I grew up in a small town called Liberty Center where I graduated high school with a class of 82 people (I told you it was small). I then went on to attend the University of Toledo where I then graduated with a major in Human Resources Management and a minor in Management. When I first attended UT I was undecided about my major. I originally wanted to pursue Social Work or some kind of Psych degree, however, my mom is the one who actually changed my mind. My mom has worked in Social Work her whole career and when I talked to her about her job I seemed to have caught her on a bad day. She did not have a lot of positive things to tell me about Social Work and her job at the time and it dissuaded me from pursuing my passion. Instead, I opted for what I thought would be the closest substitute for-- Human Resources.Nothing against Human Resources, but when it was time for me to join the workforce I was not excited about the things I would be doing. Every time I researched or applied for an HR position I wouldn't feel passionate about the job description. This feeling led me to take the jump and apply for what I was really interested in-- working in mental health. To pursue that passion, I started working at Hopebridge in March 2022. Hopebridge is an Autism Therapy Center for children (ages 3-8) that are diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. I loved my time there but felt I wanted to expand on my drive for working with individuals with developmental disabilities. As a result, I recently accepted a position as a Service and Support Specialist through the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities. I am beyond excited to be a part of the team and cannot wait to see what this next chapter holds for me!
