• Supervise and participate in the preparation of levels for construction of street, water, sewer and other municipal engineering projects. • Supervise and participate in the preparation of layout work required for the paving of streets, alleys, sidewalks, parking lots and related structures. • Participate in the writing of specifications and contract documents for the construction of municipal engineering projects. • Supervise and participate in field work of the running of levels, lines and setting grades for sidewalks, streets, alleys, sewer mains and water mains. • Supervise and inspect the field work of contractors on municipal construction projects and enforce adherence to plans and specifications. • Be proficient in the operation of surveying and engineering equipment as required. • Supervise and participate in the performance of preliminary surveys for such engineering projects as streets, alleys, sewer and water mains, buildings and other public improvements. • Perform miscellaneous drafting and make blue prints as required. Draw maps, plans and sketches from field notes, and preliminary sketches. • Generate and maintain accurate engineering records and reports. • Estimate labor and material costs required of proposed construction projects. • Prepare and submit estimates for partial and final payment to contractors. • Respond to citizen complaints and concerns regarding streets, sewers, and the water system and ensure appropriate action is taken.
