Role listed
Software Engineering Manager
Currently, an Engineering Manager. I run a hybrid team of software engineers responsible for backend sync operations within the OneDrive client. We manage variety of deep technical spaces, and are responsible for keeping files safe, secure and up to date.
Senior Software Engineer
As a Senior Engineer, I expanded my scope of impact to the entire organization. I did a series of talks called "Crucial Engineering Skills" which encompassed everything from soft-skills, technical topics, to "How to author your Connect" (Connects are Microsoft's semi-annual review format). The series was forwarded to thousands of engineers within Microsoft, and the recordings continue to be referenced each time these topics come up.During this time, I explicitly ran a metrics-driven crew as a technical lead, improving technical quality of the product, while continuing a long-running architectural project to reduce long-term technical debt.
Software Engineer Ii
I've built everything from UI to a backend filter engine on the OneDrive team. I solved hard technical problems that required data driven approaches, as well as nuanced customer features that required navigating complex interpersonal spaces. I quickly grew to a thought leader in several places across the team, helping empower those surrounding me to accomplish more.
Program Manager Ii
The role of a Program Manager at Microsoft is difficult to describe in short detail. The way I like to think of it is this: "Make sure the good stuff ships, and the bad stuff doesn't." This sounds simple, but includes a variety of complex work which requires constant adaptation. Working with design teams, making sure user research is incorporated properly, unblocking engineers before they get blocked, working with 3rd party developers to help create integrated experiences, and making sure to provide diverse feedback across a wide breadth of features are just a few of the key responsibilities which are required by my team.I build the welcome experience of Windows devices (From checking it out in a retail store, to setting up your device, to your first days of use). It sounds like a minor thing until you realize "A billion people will use this to set up their Windows device". I'm proud of the great experience we made for millions of customers who booted up Windows 10. I helped add Cortana voice interaction to the first setup experience and simplifies a complex process in order to make getting started easier for everyone. Check out a review of the experience in the link below!
Software Engineer (Core Gameplay Developer)
At EA, I was given a multitude of opportunities to test my engineering skills. I worked on a telemetry system for Madden Mobile, which involved creating meaningful business metrics from raw big data streams. This tested my ability to quickly adapt to new systems, where every day of downtime was a lost opportunity. I also designed, prototyped and implemented my own gameplay feature for Madden. This tested my creative and design knowledge, soft skills, and technical ability as an engineer. My experience here enabled me to develop a plethora of new skills critical to the game-development process. Check out my intern feature in the article below! After my internship, I returned to EA to work on Rory McIlroy's PGA Tour. I authored and owned the majority of Career mode as my primary role on the team. In addition to my gameplay work, I also pioneered a new piece of Frostbite technology to help development that is used across all our global studios.
