As the first Executive Director, led the organization to become one of the largest and most influential USGBC chapters in the country. Highlights:Led the organization from volunteer-run to a professionally staffed, national leader of the sustainability movement. Engaged thousands of leaders in all sectors involved in the built environment with leadership initiatives, public policy advocacy, educational programs, and community building. Created the vision and led the development of the Building Health Initiative, a groundbreaking partnership that committed to work collaboratively and take concrete actions to advance green building as a health issue. Recruited more than 30 partners to join the Initiative, including Adobe, Armstrong, ARUP, CalPERS, City of San Francisco, Facebook, Genentech, Google, InterfaceFLOR, HOK, HDR, Kaiser Permanente, NGO's, Salesforce, UCSF, and Webcor Builders. Developed the California Best Building Challenge, a Clinton Global Initiative that secured commitments from property owners such as Genentech, Google, Lockheed-Martin, Method, Prudential Real Estate Investors, SAP, and Zynga to reduce energy, water and waste in existing buildings by 20% within 2 years. Originated GreenerBuilder in 2010, the first green building conference in Northern California. Recruited founding partners, sponsors and keynote speakers, developed curriculum, and built the brand of the region’s premier annual green building conference.Conceived and produced Green Building Super Heroes, a signature awards gala. Examples of honorees and speakers include Former Secretary of State George Shultz, Steve Westley, Paul Hawken, Van Jones, Anne Simpson, CalPERS Director of Global Governance, and many others.Oversaw public policy advocacy programs that supported the adoption of country’s strongest state and municipal green building policies.
