I studied mechanical engineering and applied physics and found the technical challenges that reside on the boundary between these subjects fascinating. Having started my career in classical mechanical engineering roles I eventually specialized in high precision optomechanics. I deeply enjoy solving the types of problems this field has to offer and feel truly proud of some of the projects I have had the privilege to work on.More recently I have been given the responsibility and opportunity to play an important role in coordinating teams of talented individuals and managing product development projects. This presents a set of problems that are new to me and I am learning as I go. It is a wild ride.When I have a spare minute, I enjoy tinkering with old optomechanics (camera lenses, binoculars, etc.), running and cycling.
