As the editor and creator of Cerealously, I aim to build a fun and up to date online hub for news and reviews about one of my greatest passions: breakfast products. This includes cereal, Pop-Tarts, and more. All of this is presented in an easy to read, informative style that still possesses enough rhetorical idiosyncrasies to make it humorous and enjoyable. This involves consistent research, both online and in-person, to stay on the cusp of breakfast news, as well as punctual writing, photography, website editing, and social media management.

Distilling is about making something simpler and more potent. I did that with words, for happier clients—namely the Midwest grocery giant Meijer, for whom I wrote and concepted countless social media videos, TV & radio spots, in-store signs, outdoor billboards, community activations, and so much more.

The Virtual Plaza

Private Suite Media was a non-profit, editorially independent community effort to chronicle the vast, ever-growing, and culturally significant vaporwave music + art movement. A successful project from start to finish, this consisted of 14 magazines printed for subscribers worldwide every two months, as well as a podcast updated weekly. In a short time, Private Suite was able to cement itself a cornerstone within the subculture it covered, helping spotlight smaller artists, share evocative ideas, and further legitimize vaporwave as a multimedia "digital punk" movement.As the team lead for both Writing and Features, I guided each issue's editorial content, ideating and interfacing with a global team of writers to produce 6-8 articles per issue. Generally, 2-3+ of these would be written by myself—this involved researching and interviewing multiple artists, from 猫 シ Corp. in the Netherlands to Zhurnal Mod in Russia, per piece to weave their collective thoughts into a full journalistic article.

Embodying the agency ethos of "giving a little extra," I wrote simply effective creative copy across a complex array of media, from eight-word billboard headlines and eye-catching guerrilla installations to 20-page newsletters and radio spots. I also ideated and concepted broader campaign strategy and tactics for clients in healthcare, banking, education, food service, and many more. Additional responsibilities included social media management, SEO, and killing more Sharpies than anyone else in the office.

Though not a formal "job," my time spent creative concepting and copywriting for Grand Valley State University's NSAC taught me as much about advertising teamwork as an agency would.For the 2017 iteration of this American Advertising Federation-organized competition, my school's team created a multimedia campaign, with accompanying plans book and presentation, for Tai Pei Frozen Chinese Food. As part of the creative team, I led all copywriting efforts and supported creative design, while doing secondary and primary research to develop strategy and broader "big idea" generation.By the competition's end, GVSU's team took first place in AAF's District 6 competition and fourth place nationally, at the ADMERICA conference in New Orleans.

As a student intern at AdFed (the colloquial name for AAF's West Michigan chapter), I assisted with event planning, chapter communications, and membership. Additionally, I acted as an intermediary between the club and Grand Valley State University's Advertising Club, leveraging my position in both groups to get students interested about and ready for their professional advertising futures.

Pure Visibility is an Ann Arbor Internet marketing company that services SEO, PPC, social media, and more for a diverse range of clients. As a copywriting intern, I wrote digital content, improved SEO (both on-page and off), and reported analytics for the betterment of clients' online presence.

The Lanthorn is Grand Valley State University's student-run newspaper. As a writer for the Arts & Entertainment section, I took on article assignments regarding university and area events that fell into those two categories. This included anything from visual art shows, live music events, interactive exhibits, and more.The holistic process of producing a story for The Lanthorn involved not just effective, concise journalistic writing, but also researching and interviewing.

A small town grocery store chain with grand ambitions, Vinckier Foods embodies the caring sensibilities, kindly values, and ardent work ethic of the close-knit communities where it builds its stores.As a member of the bakery and deli staff, I helped perpetuate that commitment to prompt service and wholesome food practices. From preparing Vinckier Foods' famous chicken in-store, to assisting patrons at the counter, all while maintaining a logical and aesthetically-pleasing promotion of store products, I proudly helped this ever-burgeoning group provide customers with reliably delicious foods and memorable service.
