Assimilated Picolight into JDSU by managing the transition of our organization’s day to day operations from our previous business system (Visual) to the JDSU Oracle system and a subsequent Oracle upgrade. Consolidated our site’s MRO and Contract Manufacturing Production Purchasing, Contract Manufacturing drop-shipment planning/execution, Forecasting/Demand Management, and Supplier /Commodity Management functions into JDSU’s centralized functions performing these activities. Continued to manage/perform site Production Purchasing (chemicals/consumables), NPI Purchasing, Production Control, Receiving, Shipping, and Stockroom functions.

Director of Materials; June 2003 – May 2007:Managed/performed purchasing, supplier selection/management, forecasting, master scheduling, receiving, warehousing, kitting, production scheduling, and shipping for an annual spend growing from $5M to $25M. Commodities of fiber optic transceivers/subassemblies, PCBs, PCBAs, ICs, plastics, stamped sheet metal, aluminum/zinc die castings, and chemicals.Contract Manufacturing Manager; June 2002 – June 2003:Managed prototype PCBA builds through Pemstar in Rochester MN, negotiated pricing for and secured long lead-time electronic components to support production ramps, and managed subsequent turnkey transceiver production through Pemstar Thailand. Negotiated a baseline $8M/year contract manufacturing agreement realizing an initial 6% cost reduction with subsequent volume savings. Implemented drop shipments from Pemstar Thailand direct to our customers saving shipping/handling costs. Negotiated a 20% savings on inbound freight costs.

Managed a purchasing staff handling all production supplier activities associated with two major CMs, Celestica and Sanmina-SCI, with a total annual spend growing from $125M to $150M+. Assured CMs met Oracle based MRP delivery requirements, quality requirements, and cost targets. Successfully consolidated operations at Sanmina-SCI over a two-month period with significantly improved product delivery, quality, and cost. Worked with Program Managers to develop/implement component and CM sourcing strategies for new products. Managed a tiger-team to both address critical production ramp component shortages and initiate cost reductions by competitively quoting components. Measured production CM supplier performance and worked with CMs to achieve qualification for products transferring into production. Reduced costs by $1.5M/year by renegotiating our contracts with CMs to lower their transformation costs.

Managed all energy related activities for 33 warehouse stores with annual budgetary responsibilities of $4M. Negotiated a national HVAC preventative maintenance contract and reduced energy consumption by effectively using a computerized energy management system.
