-Serve as point of contact and communication between central EHS Office and individual labs as key component of EHS Management System. The role requires strong organizational, management, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships with individual researchers and lab groups.-Support EHS needs of (at various times) 4 Engineering departments (Mechanical Engineering Department, Research Lab of Electronics (RLE), Lab for Manufacturing Productivity (LMP), Aeronautics & Astronautics Department) spread across more than 250 individual rooms in 17 buildings with over 1200 total trainees. These EHS needs include chemical (including hazardous waste), biological, laser, and general safety issues.-Ensure all required training is completed, including assisting labs with development of lab-specific training and administering Hazardous Waste Management training. Teach a section of quarterly EHS Representative training, provide yearly departmental EHS training, and deliver EHS overview to undergraduate lab courses as requested.-Inspect all lab spaces twice per year, including scheduling and visiting the labs, documenting findings and other observations, and following up on recommendations.-Review proposed new experiments for EHS issues, discuss with lab, and make appropriate recommendations.-Participate in Institute-wide groups such as EHS Inspection Team and Working Committee, and on project-based teams on such topics as Lab Coats/PPE, Machine Shop & Makerspace Safety, Incident Reporting, Minors in Labs, Waste Water issues.-Involved in design/review for new or renovated lab space, commissioning and start-up of spaces, decommissioning of spaces which will be repurposed, and in EHS issues of laboratory relocations.-Plan, organize, set agenda for, and lead both quarterly meeting for ~75 EHS-connected staff from across MIT and quarterly meetings of department EHS Representatives.-Promoted to Senior EHS Coordinator July 2013, attained CIH Nov 2013.
