Established in 1933, the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) is responsible for the creation of standards overseeing physician certification in the United States. Dedicated to improving the quality of care to the patients, families and communities they serve, the 24 ABMS Member Boards develop educational and professional standards and programs of assessment to certify physicians and medical specialists. More than 995,000 physicians and medical specialists are certified by one or more of the ABMS Member Boards in one or more of 40 specialties and 89 subspecialties. Achieved several notable accomplishments that significantly enhanced the organization's human resources and operational effectiveness. As the Associate Executive Director of Human Resources & Organizational Development, I developed a new employee performance appraisal program and corresponding training sessions, which improved the quality and consistency of performance reviews. I expanded the ALA's diversity recruiting efforts, leading to increased diversity among hires, particularly at the senior management level. My introduction of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion training for all staff and supervisors fostered a more inclusive workplace culture. Additionally, I managed the HR budget of over $870,000 and implemented a health care strategy that reduced overall expenses and retiree healthcare costs by nearly 40%, saving approximately $12 million. I also played a key role in the ALA building sale project, overseeing the new site review, office layout, and change management communications. My leadership in these areas contributed to the ALA's operational efficiency and strategic growth.
