My journey into education and tutoring has been shaped by my experiences as both an educator and a parent. I discovered my passion for Structured Literacy while working as a Primary School Teacher and Head of Primary at a Cambridge Curriculum school. During that time, I saw firsthand the impact a Structured Literacy approach can have, particularly for students with additional learning needs.I am passionate about helping students who need extra guidance, whether they’re struggling with literacy, lacking confidence, or have learning difficulties that require a tailored approach. My goal is to ensure that every student feels understood and capable of achieving their full potential.My teaching style is personalised and evidence-based. I believe in the power of Structured Literacy, using research-backed methods to break learning down into manageable steps. My approach is always student-centred, and I customise lessons to meet the unique needs of each child, adapting to their pace, needs, and strengths. Whether it's building foundational reading skills or boosting confidence, I work closely with students and their families to create a supportive, empowering environment.I love supporting learners 1:1 and watching their skills develop alongside their confidence. One of my students, who had auditory processing challenges and dyslexia, is a perfect example of why I do what I do. After conducting a diagnostic assessment, I developed a customised learning plan using Structured Literacy and a multi-sensory approach. Over two terms, the student progressed from working with individual sounds and CVC words to confidently decoding and encoding words with digraphs and blends. Alongside improvements in working memory, reading fluency, and comprehension, the most rewarding transformation was in her classroom confidence.
