I am an independent prosthetic clinician in the private sector. I run the Prosthetic Home Service, a unique nationwide clinical prosthetic service offering domiciliary visits. I am an accredited expert witness and undertake medico-legal work, providing both expert witness and immediate needs assessment reports.I have experience working with all levels of amputation, both acquired and congenital. I have complete autonomy when prescribing prostheses, enabling me to prescribe the optimal prosthesis for the client. I feel passionately about how new technologies, more specifically how additive manufacturing can be implemented to improve client participation and acceptance of their prosthesis, and the benefits that this can have for the individual.

My role involved the design and development of prosthetics, orthotics and wheelchairs, with projects focusing on both lower and upper limb prosthetic solutions. A significant achievement was the preparation and submission of an application to the Integrated Research Approval System for a clinical research study in prosthetics.

This role furthered my exposure and skills with both routine and complex patients. I efficiently managed my clinic bookings, and worked effectively both independently and as part of the wider team. I gained extensive experience with all commercially available microprocessor knees and feet, including the delivery of the 1st Genium X3 prosthetic knee in the UK.I was involved in a clinical trial of below knee prosthetic sockets that were additively manufactured. I also ran prosthetic component trials for ex-service personnel, following the parameters set out by the veterans prosthetic panel.

This was my first position as a qualified Prosthetist. I was introduced to a full clinic after two weeks. I enjoyed the challenges presented as a result of taking on additional workload due to the absence of senior clinicians. This allowed me to gain increased exposure to more complex lower limb amputees. I quickly established myself as part of the multidisciplinary team and took on extra responsibilities such as the organisation of training for prosthetic clinicians to learn about new technologies and methods.
