Danial Keramat Work Experience Details
  • Dahi Studio
Senior Computational Designer, Bim Automation Specialist, Programmer
Dahi Studio Nov 2022 - Present
    Tehran, Iran
After gaining some international experience, I rejoined Dahi Studio as a senior associate to collaborate on professional projects. I develop digital tools/ plugins (in Rhino/ Grasshopper) for automating BIM-related tasks such as 3D modeling (LOD 400), Layout generation, material take-off, Element numbering and clustering, Clash detection, and Shop data generation. Most of these tasks are related to the construction data preparation phase of the structures with geometrical complexities.Furthermore, I became the project manager for developing an algorithmic digital tool for streamlining the design of curtainwall facades (from Preliminary design to Shop drawing generation). This project was initiated by me as my Master's thesis and I am continuing its development to publish it as a commercial tool in collaboration with Dahi Studio.
  • Emre İstikam Architecture & Construction
    Computational Designer & Bim Modeler
Emre İstikam Architecture & Construction Mar 2022 - Oct 2022
    Turkey
A remarkable experience indeed! I was part of a huge international team responsible for delivering the construction data of the facade of the FOUR FRANKFORT project (https://www.4frankfurt.de/de/about-four/#about-four). My colleagues and I contributed to this project by automating the BIM-related tasks such as Model generation, Clash detection, Geometrical Validation Check, Shop drawing generation, Vendor list & and material take-off generation through scripting & and visual programming (Grasshopper).
  • Parametric House
    Computational Designer - Content Developer
    Parametric House Mar 2022 - Aug 2022
    United Kingdom
The Parametric House is a renowned online platform related to computational design. It was my pleasure to be part of this professional team and help them develop educational content for people around the world. Designing and producing educational content in computational design is one of my favorite activities. Each example file that I created for this worldwide community was an endeavor to answer my own questions and curiosities. You can find a huge library of educational example files on the Parametric House website: https://parametrichouse.com/
  • Dahi Studio
    Digital Fabrication Associate, Researcher, Tutor
    Dahi Studio Feb 2021 - Feb 2022
    Tehran Province, Iran
Digital Craft House (DCH) is the fabrication laboratory of Dahi Studio. Alongside my long collaboration with Dahi Studio in the field of computational design, I spent 1 year in this amazing fab lab and gained valuable knowledge in digital fabrication. I learned how to operate various fabrication tools such as a CNC milling machine (3 Axis), Lazer cutter, 3D printer (FDM / SLA), and a little bit of a 6-axis Robotic Arm. Also, I gained knowledge about automatic Shop drawing generation, and preparing G-code for these machines via Artcam, Cura, and Grasshopper3D. During this one-year experience, we held 3 research-based workshops: Bamboo-Bam (FSS#4), Surface Active Structures (FSS#5), and 3D Printed Structures (FSS#6). I had the chance to be among the tutors of these workshops, and my role was mostly to lead the programming process of the BIM modeling and automatic shop data generation.
  • Dahi Studio
    Computational Designer, Researcher, Programmer (R&D)
    Dahi Studio May 2019 - Jan 2021
    Tehran, Iran
I gained a lot of experience in practical research and problem-solving thanks to the R&D culture of this studio and its projects. Due to the variety of projects in terms of scale and subject, I had to adapt my research and problem-solving skills to a really wide range of subjects from small products to buildings. My highly skilled but humbled colleagues in Dahi Studio have provided me with a friendly atmosphere for enhancing and expanding my skills in Generative design, Automation, model making, Digital fabrication, programming for plug-in development, and Material Study.
  • Dahi Studio
    Computational Design Intern
    Dahi Studio May 2018 - Apr 2019
    Tehran, Iran
My journey to becoming a computational designer started with this fantastic team. Dahi Studio is one of the top professional teams, famous for its expertise in computational design and digital fabrication. I learned the alphabet of Algorithmic thinking, Computational design, Digital fabrication, Computational BIM modeling, Automation, Programming, microchip (Arduino) Programming, and plugin development from my expert colleagues while working on various projects.
  • University Of Tehran
    Lecturer - Teaching Assistant
University Of Tehran Sep 2020 - Feb 2021
    Tehran, Iran
This was my first experience as a lecturer and a design studio teaching assistant. The "Design Studio 1: Discrete Design" was a novel course that we planned for graduate "Architectural Technology" students in order to enhance their creativity in aggregations design. They had to design a new building module (like a customized brick) and define its geometrical connecting rules. Most of the research material and case studies in this course were inspired by "Gilles Retsin" works. As a lecturer, I was responsible for teaching Grasshopper3D and guiding them to develop computational tools to implement the geometrical connection rules and simulate the growth process of the aggregations. Also, I was involved in coaching their design process, detailed design of the connections, checking their assignments, and the final grading process.
  • University Of Tehran
    Teaching Assistant
University Of Tehran Jan 2019 - Jan 2020
    Tehran, Iran
Being a teaching assistant in the bachelor course "Computer-Aided Design & Fabrication (CADF)" for architecture students for two consecutive semesters was a great experience. We taught students about Grasshopper3D and how to use it in computational design and fabrication. I was responsible for multiple tasks such as checking students' assignments in Grasshopper3D, helping them with their questions in design and visual programming, and assigning final grades. The result of these two semesters was two digitally fabricated pavilions.
  • Arxe Co-Op Architecture Studio
    Associative Architectural Designer
    Arxe Co-Op Architecture Studio Apr 2018 - Jan 2020
    Tehran, Iran
Designers at Arxe Co-Op have a unique manifest and approach to architectural design. Luckily, I had the chance to work with them on several projects to enhance my design skills. These projects included various scales from residential buildings to master planning and neighborhood design. Aside from the design skills, my teamwork and collaboration abilities were improved during this wonderful experience. During my collaboration with this professional team, we participated in an urban-scale architectural competition and won the first prize.
  • Taq Bostan Kavir, Design & Construction
    Junior Architectural Designer
Taq Bostan Kavir, Design & Construction Oct 2015 - Sep 2017
    Kerman, Iran
Gradually, I got engaged with more complicated tasks such as Commercial and office Design projects, Design development, Facade design, Material take-off, Coordinating cross-disciplinary drawings, attending client interview sessions, and coaching new interns. The friendly atmosphere of this architectural firm helped me to reveal my potential as an architect.
  • Taq Bostan Kavir, Design & Construction
    Architectural Design Intern
Taq Bostan Kavir, Design & Construction May 2015 - Sep 2015
    Kerman, Iran
One of my university professors invited me to work with him in his company. So, I started my professional career as an architectural design intern at Taq Bostan. At first, I was mostly involved in designing residential buildings, 2D drafting, and 3D modeling.
