– Summer internship in the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology (Carvalho lab) investigating the mechanisms of ER-associated protein degradation (ERAD).– Employed an auxin-inducible degron system to mechanistically dissect how ERAD substrates are retrotranslocated from the ER membrane into the cytosol prior to their degradation by the proteasome.– Gained experience in yeast transformation and culture, as well as the use of CRISPR-Cas9 to create deletion strains in yeast.

– Studied the interaction of opioids with the μ-opioid receptor in silico with the aim of rationally designing new therapeutics for opioid addiction.– Ran Monte Carlo-based simulations on the MareNostrum 4 supercomputer using a Protein Energy Landscape Exploration (PELE) program to predict the interaction of novel ligands with the opioid receptor.
