Executive DirectorPortland Tennis & Education Sep 2007 - PresentPortland After-School Tennis & Education, Inc. is a non-profit organization that serves "at risk" children (K-12) from low-income families. Our year around program is located at St.Johns Racquet Center, 7519 N Burlington, Portland, OR 97203. Forty percent of the student's time is spent doing fitness and tennis activities; and sixty percent is their time is spent in the academic classroom working on their homework or engaged in other educational enrichment activities. Our goal is to create "student athletes" who will develop a passion for being healthy, playing tennis, and excelling at school. The latest report from the Portland Public School District states that only 54% of high school students graduate from high school. We believe our program will be the catalyst for students staying in school until they graduate from high school. Twelve of our high school senior student athletes have been accepted into college. In 2010, two of our students placed #1 and #3 in the National Student Athlete Competition sponsored by the National Junior Tennis & Learning program sponsored by the United States Tennis Association. Last year we served over 400 students in our year around program and our Serving Up Success Summer Program. To read more about Portland After-School Tennis & Education, Inc...you can visit our website at www.pastkids.org or our facebook atwww.facebook.com/PASTandE located at St. Johns Racquet Center, 7519 N Burlington, Portland, OR.
