As an Advisor, Knowledge Management, Learning and Communications (KLC), I played a key role in coordinating learning and information sharing across all Department of Hunger and Livelihoods (DHL) activities to develop best practices, identify and share lessons learned, and capacity building in support of expanding DHL’s capabilities as a learning organization. Further, I supported strategic and programmatic KLC efforts to enable DHL and implementing partners to better capture, generate, share, and apply high quality information on food security and livelihoods best practices, and will contribute to DHL’s KLC strategy and work with program technical staff to develop and implement a KLC strategy for each program, including activities such as audience mapping, development and socialization of knowledge products, and design and facilitation of learning activities. As a Learning and Knowledge Management Specialist at Plan International Kenya, I was tasked to: a) Spearhead Institutionalization and Mainstreaming of Learning and Knowledge Management at Plan through: Development of tools such as an LKM Strategy, LKM Framework and Model, and LKM Policy, Overseeing the implementation of the LKM tools, and Guiding portfolio development for LKM among other avenues.b) Strengthen information and knowledge management to enhance program quality and support influencing and engagement through: Supporting knowledge identification, packaging and dissemination from various projects implemented by Plan Kenya through capacity building and training of program staff on LKM; Establishing and facilitating forums for information harnessing and knowledge co-creation with project staff; Conceptualizing, designing and implementing training and mentorship programs for program and project staff on LKM practices, tools and processes in line with Plan Global MERL policy and standards; and Supporting business development processes by contributing to product and proposal development processes to ensure information and knowledge management are incorporated in all business development initiatives.c) Overall guidance and technical advice on LKM to all program and operation staff including the human resources, administration, and management with information and knowledge that supports day to day operations.

These organizations are: the East African Community (EAC), Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC), the East African Health Research Commission (EAHRC) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). My responsibilities in these organizations revolve around Knowledge Management Strategy Development, Knowledge Management Training, Development of Knowledge Management Products and Platforms, and Institutional Capacity Strengthening towards becoming Knowledge Management Ready.

Under this role I am on placement by the Knowledge for Health (K4Health) Project at the East African Community (EAC) with the Lake Victoria Basin Commission headquartered in Kisumu, Kenya, my duties include:1. Assisting with the knowledge management activities of the Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) Population Health and Environment (PHE) Project; and 2. Assist LVBC's Communication Development Awareness Officer (CDAO) to:• Finalize, disseminate and implement the LVBC Knowledge Management Strategy;• Populate and maintain the new PHE knowledge portal with evidence, reports, features and documentation;• Establish systems for keeping the PHE web portal up to date, relevant, and well-used;• Synthesize information and evidence concerning PHE and package in easily digestible formats;• Strengthen systems for collecting, cataloguing and sharing knowledge within the LVBC Secretariat and among PHE networks and civil society organizations in the region;• Identify, document and package PHE success stories for use during advocacy and other forums;• Assist with other knowledge management related activities as required.

• Lead Media engagement work for the organization.
