Safety Manager in many different working environments. My experience as a contractor for the last 20 years, has given me understanding to adapt to environments and deadlines that are continuously changing. As a safety professional working in so many different areas and environments I feel that gives me a stronger knowledge of how people influence safety, so we can better influence people to do things safely.I have spent time in the railroad industry, warehousing, power generation, steel producing, chemical and refining. I started my career working in a warehouse switching out railcars. This led to the Illinois Central Railroad where I was a brakeman and conductor. I left there and went to the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad where I did track labor. When we ran out of track, I went into safety full time. For the last 20 years, I have worked as a safety professional for great companies like K2 Industrial. At K2 Industrial, I was primarily located at the BP Whiting facility in which I worked closely with the BP safety group and all other contractors on site. We received many safety awards for safe work in those years. From there I went to Brand Energy & Infrastructure Services. I started there as the Chicago office Safety Manager and worked my way to Area Safety Manager for the Midwest. We worked in plants like Exxon Mobil, Flint Hills Resources, BP, Marathon, Midwest Generation, Conoco Phillips, AEP, Calumet Refining, Great Lakes Naval Station and many more. I have had the opportunity to learn much more than general safety while at Brand, some of which being workers compensation/legal, hazard awareness, incident management, and negotiating with OSHA.
