This was a short term engagement to lead the ICT Solutions team while maintaining my existing responsibilities. I had two key objectives to achieve while in this role, 1- reduce initiative dwell times, 2- identify and implement process improvements opportunities within the Business Solutions Team. I was able to achieve both by identifying and implementing a forum to collaboratively discuss new initiatives with stakeholders and subject matter experts, this led to greater support for business partners, and early engagement with operational and delivery teams.

This role required I use my knowledge of Queensland Rail systems and technical understanding in order to understand applications and their architecture as well as how the application would be implemented into the new Queensland Rail environment.I was required to validate the infrastructure treatments and technical designs for all applications within the 3rd Party Application Stream. Highlight issues and risks relating to the treatment of applications and ensure applications were being treated as specified. Own and lead the resolution of technical issues within the 3rd party application stream.I also worked as a Solution Architect for the Mainframe Decommissioning Project - within this role I was assigned to the Roster Sapiens Re-Platform work package where I liaised with Sapiens UK and Israel to understand and resolve technical issues within the work package. It was also my responsibility to provide key technical advice to ICT project managers in order for them to understand risks and issues associated with solution options. In addition to working on the Roster Sapiens Re-Platform work package, I also designed solutions for a number of smaller work packages. Responsibilities included: -- Developing and delivering solutions designs in accordance with Queensland Rail's ICT Principals and Architecture;-- Developing cutover and implementation plans for the implementation of 3rd Party applications;-- Liaising with business representatives and technical resources to identify and coordinate cutover activities and timeframes;-- Provide a high-level solution assurance review of future-state application designs and treatments to Project Managers;-- Identification and analysis of business and technical issues in accordance with the project mandate and customer expectations;

Working for the Design Team, I accepted work packages from delivery managers, investigated business requirements and developed conceptual and high-level design options for our customers. Responsibilities included: -- Engaging with business and technical resources to gather and understand business requirements in order to develop conceptual and high-level solution designs for various initiatives.-- Evaluating software solutions for the business, confirmed vendor presence, highlighted the suitability of applications for the Queensland Rail environment and ensured applications met the defined business requirements.-- Performing solution assurance for the business by reviewing the ICT aspects of business managed projects to ensure the solution was consistent with Queensland Rail ICT governing principles, Enterprise Architecture and best practice.-- Identifying, developing and refining reusable solution patterns. -- Building and strengthening relationships between business and technical resources in order to deliver the best outcome for our customers.

My role a Solutions Implementer was to assist other team members by mentoring and providing technical support. On a regular basis I was required to support and diagnose application or environmental issues affecting users, in order to quickly resolve and restore the service to a normal operating environment. In addition to the above, I was involved with many projects that required the ability to build a rapport with customers in order to gather and define business requirements and present an appropriate solution to meet their business needs. While acting as a Principal Developer, I maintained my duties as a Senior Solutions Implementer and extended my responsibilities by championing the upgrade and enhancements of internally built n-tier .Net applications based on a proprietary vb.Net frameworks and was upgraded to them to the latest .Net framework (3.5) and Avanade Connected Architecture (ACA.Net). I also developed business requirements, user interface design documentation, conducted workshops, designed database schema's based on business requirements and created a small program of works for the enhancements of applications. Responsibilities Included: -- Meet with business representatives to gather, clarify, fully develop and understand project scope and business requirements;-- Re-architected applications, including the development of several smaller .Net components that interface to other systems via webMethods;-- Delegation of work to the project team, quality control, managing project budgets and timeframes, liaising with management, development teams and customers to manage their expectations;-- Be a key technical resource for the development of MS .Net Framework 2.0 applications and ACA.Net applications within the QR environment.Achievements Included:-- Successfully enhanced applications and migrated them from legacy .Net framework 1.1 to .Net 3.5. Introduced significant application usability improvements as well as functional improvements to the applications.

As a Graduate Solutions Implementer working for Queensland Rail, my key responsibility was to learn and understand the QR .Net environment where I would later develop, support and implement applications ranging from small desktop clients to large web applications with multiple integration points. Responsibilities Included: -- Managed self to further develop technical, problem solving and application support skills;-- Perform the analysis, design and the construction of applications in QRs environment;-- Understand and familiarised myself with the QR environment, including both portal and standalone .Net applications. Achievements Included:-- Successfully coordinated the design, development and implementation of a .Net application to display the current HR Policy and record user’s responses (accept or reject) across the entire computer network (Approximately 7000 Computers).
