Was tapped by the owner of Ferreira Construction (FCC) to lead the creation of a brand new wholly owned subsidiary of FCC in Southern California that specialized in Transmission, Distribution and Substation Construction. It was a daunting task but the team that joined me on this mission help make it all possible and we had crews working in the air performing overhead distribution within 6 months and soon after we had crews doing overhead transmission.We had great support from the owner and the home office in NJ to help navigate the in and outs of starting a company from the ground up.

Mr. Ashmore is responsible for the effective execution of power construction projects, including safety, quality, and P/L, through a staff of managers established in project or area offices throughout Henkels & McCoy’s West Region. Projects and programs vary in size and type and are spread throughout the entire region’s territory. These include large EHV transmission construction, large distribution construction programs, substation construction, and renewable construction, as well as a large volume of lump sum or unit type projects. Mr. Ashmore leads the preparation of RFP responses and manages the estimating group. He monitors performance metrics for operating unit (production, man-hours, accidents and incidents, circuit interruptions), and reviews safety and productivity of crews. He provides leadership and direction to Area Management staff ensuring safe work practices and procedures are implemented and sustained throughout operating unit. He establishes and maintains relationships with customers to ensure effective communication between company and clients and attends monthly client meetings regularly. Mr. Ashmore develops and executes project work plans and project specific safety plans, develops and ensures the proper implementation of company policies and procedures, negotiates labor contracts and maintains good working relationships with the IBEW, and initiates and develops training for line crews.

After successfully completing the PTTP project where he was the primary interface with the utility customer’s on-site project construction manager, Mr. Ashmore began working directly with the Director of Power Operations to focus on all major project work. In this role, he is responsible for manpower, equipment, safety, quality, and productivity on all phases of electrical transmission, distribution and substation projects. This includes estimate approvals, pre-construction planning, change order management, execution, and contract compliance for various projects within Henkels & McCoy’s West Region. Mr. Ashmore works closely with the Director of Power Operations, Chief Estimator, Regional Controller, and Region Management Team to ensure that projects are meeting business standards as well as being engineered in a way that can be constructed from the RFP stage through closeout of projects. He also acts as a mentor to other project managers, construction managers, and superintendents within the West Region Power Operation.

Mr. Ashmore served as Overhead Transmission Line Construction Manager on the Populus to Terminal 345 kV (EPC) Transmission Project. This project consisted of building a new double-circuit 345 kV transmission line from Salt Lake City, Utah to Downey, Idaho. His responsibilities included the day-to-day supervision of tower assembly and erection, and wire stringing construction activities. He also developed, reviewed, and approved all construction schedules, work plans, and quality documentation. Mr. Ashmore was the primary interface with the utility customer’s on-site project construction manager and worked to ensure the project came in on time and on budget.

Mr. Ashmore managed various overhead, underground distribution, substation and transmission projects throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States.

Mr. Ashmore a 3rd generation IBEW lineman worked through the ranks on various substation, transmission, and distribution power projects for multiple utility contractors throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States.
