During my six-month internship at TigerLogic Africa, I had the opportunity to work under the Network Team, which is dedicated to ensuring robust and secure network infrastructures for clients across Africa. The Network Team is divided into two main areas: Access Control and Firewall, and I had the privilege of contributing to both. Access Control: • Assisted in implementing and managing Network Access Control (NAC) solutions (Forescout), to enhance network security by regulating device access. • Worked on configuring Secure DNS and DHCP systems to ensure reliable and secure network address management. • Conducted network access assessments to identify and mitigate unauthorized device connections. • Implemented and monitored endpoint security measures to protect against unauthorized access and potential threats. • Worked on the integration of NAC solutions with existing security infrastructure to provide a comprehensive security posture. • Engaged in training sessions and workshops for more education and knowledge on best practices for access control and network security.Firewall: • Participated in firewall management solutions, including setting up firewall rules, monitoring traffic, and troubleshooting issues. • Gained hands-on experience in configuring and managing Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW) and Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS) to protect against cyber threats. • Engaged in the configuration and maintenance of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to ensure secure remote access. • Contributed to the development and implementation of firewall policies to meet regulatory compliance and enhance network security. • Monitored and analyzed firewall logs to identify potential security breaches and improve threat response strategies. • Worked on integrating firewall solutions with other security tools to create a cohesive and comprehensive security infrastructure.
