As assistant supervisor on the Forterra crew, I served Seattle and the greater King County metropolitan region. Our crew worked with a multitude of sponsors including non-profits, utilities, state and city parks departments under the Green cities partnership. Job responsibilities focused on habitat restoration, replanting disturbed forests, and improving water quality for salmon and local communities with the help of volunteers and park stewards.

Monitoring salmon at various life stages for conservation and management of wild stocks, starting with winter smolt traps capturing returning juveniles for DNA sampling and measurement on the Skykomish River. This was followed by creel surveys with sports fishermen on marine fish and salmon retention in Puget Sound.

Primary duties at RPS included creating reports on ocean current patterns based on acoustic Doppler current profilers. Data was cleaned and analyzed in MATLAB. Similar methods were used for analysis of dredging operations with data from instruments aboard ships, with reporting under the supervision of the US Army Corps.

Beginning with the construction of an experimental apparatus to control water chemistry, several projects in ocean acidification research on marine zooplankton response, studies on Dungeness crab were conducted from 2011-2012 under the guidance of Jason Miller with the National Marine Fisheries Service and the University of Washington

Manufacturing of weather stations for aviation, research, and emergency response. Repair of malfunctioning instruments including AT/RH sensors, ceilometers, anemometers, rain gauges, and other miscellaneous weather station components.

Aided in the construction of an experimental apparatus for ocean acidification reasearch on marine zooplankton response. During this time I begun a study on geoduck larvae at current and predicted oceanic pH levels. Results were presented to the National Shellfishies Association and Pacific coast shellfish growers.

Providing tech support and networking solutions to staff and faculty. Troubleshooted issues for Windows, Mac, and Linux based operating systems, applications, and mobile devices. In my time with the UW I helped with the development and deployment of a student tracking database for use with counselors and tutoring centers.
