Police Constable
CurrentInitially working on the response team, my role was responding to 999 or 101 calls from members of the public and victims of crime. My role required me to remain empathetic not only towards victims of crime while varying my approach when dealing with suspects to achieve the best possible outcomes, but also those experiencing a mental health crisis, requiring caring communication to provide support moving on from that situation. This meant I have responded to a range of different situations and utilised my communication skills to the best effect to reassure victims of crime, taking reports or statements to achieve the best evidence to assist with progressing a case to court, managing conflict situations, where good communication skills could have been the difference between an escalation or de-escalation of the situation and working with colleagues to manage situations safely and diligently.During this time, I moved to the investigations team, where I achieved PIP1 investigation status, managing a range of crime reports, interviewing subjects who have been arrested in a police and criminal evidence act (PACE) compliant interview, and progressing comprehensive and detail cases through the criminal justice system. This means I need to work diligently and methodically to ensure each report has any outstanding actions completed without undue delay. Often this meant taking investigations forward while the subject were in custody and required me to distribute tasks to team members in a leadership style role, to efficiently complete case files to progress and safeguard the victims from further harm. My efficient and diligent work often results in my supervisors assigning me to assist colleagues with their workloads and making comments that ‘I will be the next Chief Constable’, showing the impact of my efficiency and diligence.
Police Community Support Officer
This was a proactive community policing role, where it was my responsibility to be visible within the communities which I served whilst working closely with local partners and agencies to solve local issues. These ranged from identifying areas subject to damage, issues between neighbours, to responding to 999 emergency calls and working closely with police officer colleagues. Policing is an ever-changing role and I enjoy the challenge of approaching a situation, understanding what has occurred to get to the root of the issue and resolving the situation in an effective manner.Throughout my time in this role, I held the SPOC liaison role for Business Crime, working closely with partners within the council, business crime group and local stakeholders. I project managed the first safer streets funding bid which saw over £400,000 being provided to install a range of crime-preventative measures. I worked closely with partners to ensure this was managed and delivered in the most effective way. This role required me to follow a Code of Ethics guide which required me to always remain professional, accountable for actions and the decisions I have made, challenge improper behaviour, uphold honesty and integrity and treat everyone with respect and courtesy.
Manager
Starting as a Customer Service Representative, I ensured customers were served quickly and always left happy. During this time, I proved myself to be responsible and able to work well under pressure and was rewarded with a promotion. Initially consisting of cashing up and closing the store at the end of the evening on an ad-hoc basis, before taking on further responsibilities such as shift running during peak periods and stock management. I was soon promoted to the manager role where I was an accountable officer for the company, responsible for the efficient and profitable running of the store. I was required to maintain Domino’s high standards at all times which is monitored by unannounced store visits by Operation Coaches. My role included managing the resources of the store including staff, stock, product quality, marketing initiatives, sales targets, and financial management to increase unit sales. As the Store Manager I also ran recruitment and interviews of new staff members, as well as the termination of contracts, should a staff member’s actions fall below brand standards. From time to time I had to disperse conflict. Whether this was staff within the store or having to handle violent or aggressive customers late at night. This role has taught me the importance of staying calm and dealing with the situation in an effective manner while communicating effectively with all parties involved.
Shift Manager
Customer Service Representative
Supermarket Assistant
I was tasked with general responsibilities in the supermarket from stock control to working on the tills. I enjoyed the variety of my work and especially creating a good rapport with customers and upholding the Waitrose company image of being a pleasant place to shop. I found that customers appreciate a quick and smooth shopping experience which lead me to focus on delivering great customer service.
It Support (Volunteer)
This was a volunteering role assisting members of the community with any computer enquiries they may have. This was a rewarding role that resulted in being able to help various people with their troubles, who otherwise may have struggled on without help.
