I have been interested in the craft of storytelling for as long as I can remember. As a child I was always buried in a thick stack of fantasy and science fiction novels. However, once I became more active online, I found myself abandoning fictional works and instead buried myself in the stories of real people and real-world problems. By the time I'd gotten to high school, news and politics was all I could talk about, and so when it came time to choose my major, I didn't hesitate to select journalism.During my time at the University of Central Florida, I studied the tools of the trade necessary for me to perform in this field, as well as selecting minors in digital media and political science, which allowed me to expand my repertoire of digital production tools and knowledge of international relations even further.During the summer of 2016, I served as the News editor for Nicholson Student Media, where my community was shaken by a tragedy. The Pulse nightclub shooting lit a fire under everyone in the newsroom, and we covered it from every angle we could.It was here where I found my niche in journalism: I love covering protests. Nothing comes close to the excitement of seeing everyday Americans marching in defiance of a system that they feel has wronged them, and I hope my reporting can highlight the reasons people are angry and bring them to even more people's attention.
