I am currently employed as a Transport Operations Manager for the Purvis Group, based in Lochgelly, Fife, having joined the company in October 2020.As part of my role, I am responsible for the daily management of our pallet distribution fleet, ensuring the vehicles are safe and efficient. I oversee the day-to-day planning of our collect and delivery vehicles as well as our trunk operation which runs to the Midlands and North West England each night.From July 2018 until October 2020, I was employed as a General Manager for Rhys Davies Logistics based in Whitburn, West Lothian, where I was responsible for their Scottish operation.As part of my role at RDL, I overseen the P&L for Scotland, people managed employees from different working backgrounds, handled customer accounts and ensured the business was safe and compliant in respect of health and safety and vehicle management. The Whitburn site had 10 vehicles (ranging from 3.5t - 44t Artics) and 30 employees.Before joining Rhys Davies, I spent a very successful 7 years with Menzies Distribution Ltd, progressing from a warehouse operative to managing their operation in Edinburgh, Fife and the south of Scotland.I was based in Newbridge, Edinburgh, and also overseen the sites in Dalgety Bay (Fife), Galashiels and Berwick. I started with MDL as a warehouse operative, gaining experience at various levels before becoming part of the senior management team in Scotland, firstly as a Distribution Manager then latterly as an Operations Manager.I was responsible for a fleet of 43 vehicles, ranging from 3.5t transits to 26t trucks. I had 18 direct reports and ultimate responsibility for 145 employees.I have very strong leadership qualities with great communication skills which allows me to get the very best out of my team.I have been a CPC holder since 2017 which allows me to be legally responsible for a fleet of vehicles as well as recently passing the Managing Safely IOSH course.
