As a member of the biological sciences community I have amassed knowledge and skills from academic, professional, and research-based experiences which I am eager to share with the world at large. During my time at the University of Maryland (UMD) I was exposed to a number of chemical, biochemical, and microbiological techniques that have helped familiarize me with a variety of laboratory assays. This work has been supplemented through extracurricular research which has fostered a strong appreciation for the scientific process and the independent and collaborative work that goes on in a dynamic laboratory setting. Through these experiences, I have learned how to foster and grow diverse personal connections that help all to feel welcome. I am a member of the Alpha Chi Sigma (AXS) professional chemistry fraternity at UMD. Through AXS, connected with fellow chemists and biochemists, and tutored those entering the field. During the COVID-19 pandemic I worked as a member of the ProudToBeProtected initiative to bring scientific information regarding the COVID-19 virus and vaccines to people who needed it most — all with a friendly smile. Today I carry on my passion for connecting people with science as an Associate Scientist at Millipore-Sigma. I am proud to say I have become a hardworking and well-informed scientific communicator who understands the importance of empathy and interpersonal connection in a research, outreach, and professional setting.
