Detective Constable On The Criminal Investigation Department
CurrentMy role includes investigating serious and complex crimes, many of which can take months or even years to investigate due to their complexity. This includes traditional crime types such as aggravated burglaries, arson, rapes, serious assaults, fraud and robberies amongst others. My role sees me attending the scene of such crimes and providing investigative guidance and decision making at these scenes. I then investigate these matters all the way to the conclusion of the investigation. This involves gathering evidence and assessing it, interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects, case file preparation and maintaining an open mindset during enquiries. A big part of the role involves building a rapport with victims and supporting them through the investigation to the conclusion of the case. This can be particularly challenging with vulnerable or intimidated victims and indeed witnesses.
