I'm final year student studying Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Criminology and minoring in conflict resolution at Auckland University of Technology. On the search for an organisation to help contribute my skills, but ultimately to gain knowledge and develop some practical experience. Currently searching for a work placement/voluntary work within an organisation that has some significance to my academic studies in order to complete my degree. General Skills: -Speedy learner and great with active listening skills -Ability to work under pressure, demonstrate self-organizational and time management skills to set priorities and meet deadlines. -Easily able to engage and communicate with a variety of people that have a different cultural and socio-economic background. -Ability to present information to groups and individuals in a way that is confident and clear.-Follow health and safety standards which promotes a safer working environment. -Demonstrate leadership attributes in group projects while supporting individuals. Specific Skills:-Understanding how certain criminology concepts and ideas can be applied in real world settings to reduce criminal recidivism. -Understanding of specific crime prevention programmes used to stop offending. -Ability to critically examine criminal justice policies and practices -A reasonable understanding of criminal justice institutions and crime disparity in New Zealand-Interested in the effectiveness of crime prevention strategies, prison as a form of punishment and other rehabilitative programmes.
